There are hundreds of films that could be considered works of art. However, like adding a moustache to Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, or a parrot to the shoulder of Michelangelo’s David, classic films could be ruined with a simple one minute change. Here are 9 examples:
The Godfather – The final scene. Michael Corleone closes the door on his wife as he meets with his underlings. His wife cracks the door open and peeks in. Michael and his mafia friends are playing video games.
Star Wars – Return of the Jedi – Darth Vader lifts the Emperor over his head and tosses him down a reactor shaft. The Emperor shouts “Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” all the way down.
The Sixth Sense – Bruce Willis realizes he is a ghost only after holding up a box of ‘Boo Berry’ cereal next to his face in the mirror and realizing he looks exactly like the character on the front.
Citizen Kane – Kane lays dying on his bed. He drops a snow globe after uttering the word “rosebud.” The butler walks in, steps on the glass and hops off screen in pain. He is then heard falling down the stairs. An ambulance is heard pulling up. The ambulance is heard crashing.
Gone With The Wind – Rhett Butler is walking out on Scarlett O’Hara. She asks what ever will she do without him in her life. “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn,” he replies. The credits start to roll. The credits stop. There is a knock on the door. It’s Rhett. “Sorry for the strong language,” he says.
Philadelphia – Over the credits, a rap song is played recapping everything we just saw. After the song ends, we see the film’s hilarious outtakes.
Psycho – A shadowy figure stabs Marion to death in the shower. We watch the blood swirling down the drain. Pull back to reveal the shadowy figure watching the swirling blood too. He gets dizzy and throws up.
The Dark Knight – Batman defeats the joker. Not wanting Gotham to find out that Harvey Dent was a killer, the super hero takes the blame for the crime. The police are heard approaching. Batman hops onto the city bus and escapes. We watch the bus making all of the stops during the credits.
Jaws – The crew sees Jaws for the first time. Quint tells Brody “you’re gonna need a bigger boat. Brody yells at Quint for embarrassing him in front of his friends and runs out of the cabin in tears.
